Rebates in 2011 on Heating, AC, and Plumbing Equipment

A lot of people took advantage of the generous tax credits on qualifying HVAC equipment installed prior to 12/31/10. For all of you who missed out on these 2010 credits the good news is that the rebates in 2011, though smaller, are still around.

The Middle Class Tax Relief Act of 2010 contains a $500 tax credit for HVAC equipment installed in 2011, and modifies some of the qualifying standards. Qualifying equipment includes air conditioning, heat pumps, and forced air gas furnaces. The bill restores the lifetime cap and the individual equipment limits that were eliminated by the Stimulus Bill in 2009. 

The 2011 bill allows for up to $300 in tax credit for installation of a tankless water heater of heat pump electric water heater. Tankless water heaters must have a thermal efficiency of .82 or higher. All natural gas and propane Noritz and Eternal tankless water heaters qualify for this credit. In additional heat pump electric water heaters with a 2.0 of greater energy factor qualify for the rebate.
